The latest film depicting television newscaster Christine Chubbuck, who committed suicide on air in 1974, seems to have cast the perfect lead.
Rebecca Hall’s performance as Chubbuck is being touted for its unnerving psychological nature. The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and focuses heavily on the newscasters severe depression.
After seeing the film, the Guardian wrote: “Hall has largely languished with supporting roles in films that in no way prepare you for the breadth she displays in director Antonio Campos’s tragic character study, Christine.”
“Christine” starring the 34-year-old British-American actress, plus “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall, hits theatres on October 14.
