Shailene Woodley is fiercely passionate when it comes to a range of social justice issues, including sex education.
While speaking with Net-A-Porter’s The Edit, the 24-year-old actress, who was recently spotted protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline amid her “Snowden” press tour, revealed she wished that masturbation was taught in schools as a way to decrease teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
She told the digital magazine, “As a young woman you don’t learn how to pleasure yourself, you don’t learn what an orgasm should be, you don’t learn that you should have feelings of satisfaction.”
Woodley continued, “I’ve always had a dream of making a book called There’s No Right Way to Masturbate. If masturbation were taught in school, I wonder how [many] fewer people would get herpes aged 16, or pregnant at 14.”
