Michael Weatherly To Play New Role Inspired By The Early Days Of Dr. Phil In ‘Bull’

Former “NCIS” star Michael Weatherly is set to take on a new role in the upcoming legal drama “Bull”, coming to Global TV, premiering Tuesday, September 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Weatherly, who played special agent Tony Dinozzo for the past 13 seasons on “NCIS”, will be shifting his focus to play Dr. Jason Bull, the founder of a successful trial consulting firm, inspired by the early work of real-life daytime talk show host, Dr. Phil McGraw.

Unknown to many, McGraw worked as a jury consultant before launching his own daily television show, “Dr. Phil”, with the help of Oprah Winfrey. The new series “Bull” is written and produced by McGraw and Paul Attanasio, and will focus on the melding of law with technology to help predict trial verdicts.

Speaking of McGraw’s involvement in the series, actor Christopher Jackson says, “We got to see him quite a bit when we were shooting the pilot and before we shot the pilot, so we’ve had time to hear some stories.”

While Weatherly is keeping his lips tightly sealed about the “top secret” project, his fellow cast member Geneva Carr spills, “I don’t think you’ll look at the legal system the same way after seeing a show like this […] It’s going to surprise people because I’ve never seen anything like it.”
