Authorities have confirmed that Atlanta rapper Carlos Walker, better known as Shawty Lo, passed away early Wednesday morning following a fatal car accident in Fulton County, Georgia.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the rapper was killed in an accident that took place on the I-285 in southern Fulton County around 2:20 a.m. While it was initially perceived to be a hit-and-run, Cpl. Maureen Smith, a spokesperson for the Fulton Police, later called it “a single car accident.”
Police say that Walker’s white Audi went over a guardrail when it hit two trees and burst into flames. While the rapper was reportedly killed at the scene, two other people in the car were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Walker is arguably best known for his work with the hip-hop group D4L and their 2005 chart-topping tune, “Laffy Taffy”. Following the devastating news of his passing, the rapper’s long-time manager Johnnie Cabbell shared a heartfelt message to his Instagram account, calling Walker his “brother” and “friend.”
