J.K. Rowling Wants Fans To ‘Discover’ Their Patronus, Clears Up Harambe Joke Right Quick

Harry Potter fans are going to go nuts over this one. (Actually they already are).

Fan site Pottermore has released its latest feature to mass appeal! #ExpectroPatronum started trending on social media channels after “Harry Potter” creator J.K. Rowling, made sure fans knew the new feature was available on the site with a simple tweet (or five).

For those of you who are confused over the ghostly visions of animals flying around your social media channels, a Patronus is a spell conjured by a happy memory and the incantation “Expecto patronum!” The Patronus takes the form of a silvery animal that protects against the soul-crushing depression caused by exposure to Dementors.

The test, a simple multiple choice test that aims to zone in on fans instincts by asking them to click on one of two or three words, without thinking, ending with their Patronus zooming through a forest.

As with any new online app, some have taken things to a new, er less appropriate level. Case in point? The Chive, who tweeted at Rowling with their Patronus.

Confirming that the site, is not, in fact, shilling the late Harambe as a Patronus, J.K. Rowling shared her thoughts:

Head over to Pottermore to find out what your Patronus is.
