‘Suicide Squad’ Star Margot Robbie To Host ‘SNL’ Season Opener, Joined By The Weeknd

“Saturday Night Live” is readying to launch its 42nd season with a bang, announcing today that the season premiere will feature “Suicide Squad” star Margot Robbie making her debut as host. She’ll be joined by The Weeknd on the musical stage, who will presumably be performing new tracks from his upcoming album, “Starboy”.

Although panned by critics, “Suicide Squad” was a blockbuster at the box office, raking in more than $720 million globally, and Robbie’s Harley Quinn was clearly the fan favourite character.

The new season of “SNL” will feature three new featured players: improv performer Alex Moffat, “America’s Got Talent” finalist Melissa Villaseñor and Mikey Day, who has been a writer on the show since 2013. The trio are filling the spots vacated by departing cast members Taran Killam, Jay Pharoah and Jon Rudnitsky.

The 42nd season of “Saturday Night Live” will premiere Saturday, Oct. 1 at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on Global; you can also watch full episodes and individual sketches online.
