The body of Canadian actor Richard Hong has been found at the Hollywood Hills rental home of television personality George Stroumboulopoulos on Friday.
Breaking news reports out of Los Angeles indicate Strombo was not at home at the time of the body’s discovery.
According to LAPD, the 41-year-old died of blunt force trauma.
Stroumboulopoulos released a statement via Twitter, identifying Hong as a “dear friend” who was staying at his rental home.
LAPD confirmed to ET Canada that a homicide at the 6700 block of Milner occurred early Friday morning. LAPD confirm that a call reporting a robbery came in to the Hollywood division shortly after 2:00 am local time. When officers arrived on scene, they were directed to a male who was an apparent victim of a homicide. LAPD media relations tell ET Canada they do not have an apparent cause of death at this time.
Police were unable to locate a suspect after conducting a helicopter and canine search of the neighbourhood. A witness reported seeing a man fleeing from the area.
Stroumboulopoulos was in New York City at the time and was unaware of the incident. He is currently en route to Los Angeles. Police are continuing to investigate the murder, but have now left the crime scene.
