Just in time as The Royal Family visits Canada, Netflix releases the first trailer for new series “The Crown.”
The show follows Queen Elizabeth II’s transition from being a princess to Queen, her first years on the throne and her marriage to Prince Philip. The series stars Claire Foy (Wolf Hall), Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and John Lithgow (Interstellar).
The opening trailer shows a reluctant Elizabeth who takes the throne as a matter of duty, instead of desire – as Britain recovers from World War II.
“For better or for worse, the crown has landed on my head,” she says during a sequence.
“The Crown” debuts on November 4, 2016.
