Kate Hudson Says She Forgives Her Biological Father After Years Spent Apart

Kate Hudson says she no longer harbours resentment towards her estranged father Bill Hudson.

The 37-year-old actress recently joined “The Howard Stern Show” on SiriusXM where she opened up about her absentee dad, who told the Daily Mail in June 2015 that he “no longer recognized” Kate and her brother Oliver Hudson as his own.

“I think forgiveness in any aspect is something that is complex. It is the greatest tool to be able to separate that attachment,” she tells Stern. “So for me, I do really recognize whatever those issues are is something he has to live with. That must be painful for him and I forgive him.”

Hudson goes on to explain that it was her mother Goldie Hawn’s partner Kurt Russell who acted as the father figure from the time of her parents’ split in 1980. Hudson, who acts alongside Russell in the film “Deepwater Horizon”, says, “The trust I got from [Russell] in terms of his dependability was priceless for me.”

“I think when you grow up with parents like I did, competitiveness in this world is like a no, no,” Hudson adds. “You get it right away. Kurt was great with that stuff when we were growing up. He is so honest, so brutally honest. I love him so much; he is just a great guy. He is an original. He doesn’t buy into things.”

ET Canada recently spoke with Kate Hudson about her work with Mark Wahlberg in “Deepwater Horizon” at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.
