Who made us laugh the most this year? According to the Just For Laughs comedy festival, this year’s funniest person is Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg, who was named comedy person of the year at this summer’s annual comedy festival in Montreal.
Samberg wasn’t alone in being honoured; Vancouver’s own Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg won top honours as comedy directors of the year for their upcoming Kim Jong-il spoof The Interview.
Other honourees from this year’s JFL include Parks and Recreation producer Michael Schur as comedy writer of the year, while Nathan Fielder (who, like Rogen and Goldberg, hails from Vancouver) won for breakout comedy star and Bill Burr was named stand-up comedian of the year.
The winners will be presented with their awards in a special ceremony, to be hosted by standup Pete Holmes, to be held on July 25 in Montreal.
