One of the fall TV season’s most anticipated new series is “Timeless”, in which a hand-picked team are sent travelling through history in order to find a mysterious criminal (Goran Visnjic, “ER”) who stole a prototype time machine and is intent on changing the present by altering the past.
Abigail Spencer stars as a historian who leads the team, and the actress admits her knowledge of history has increased significantly since she began working on the Vancouver-shot series.
“Were you a history buff coming into this?” asks ET Canada’s Erin Cebula while on the Vancouver set of “Timeless”.
“I’m so buff,” jokes Spencer. “Watching and learning, I’m so buff with history.”
In tonight’s series opener, the team travels to 1937 New Jersey, just in time to witness the infamous Hindenburg disaster. “It was a really interesting moment in time,” Spencer explains, “I’m so glad we started with that.”
Future episodes involve such historical moments as the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, but has Spencer ever thought about what famous historical figure she would like to meet?
“I would take my mom and we would go back and sit down with Coco Chanel,” admits Spencer. “I know that my mom would die for that to happen and I think it would be lovely to be in her presence.”
You can catch more with Abigail Spencer on tonight’s edition of ET Canada, airing at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
“Timeless” premieres tonight — Monday, Oct. 3 — at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
