The Ontario government will be looking into a new whisky, inspired by the “Trailer Park Boys”, set to launch in the province this month.
Liquormen’s Ol’ Dirty Canadian Whisky is already available in four Canadian provinces: Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The spirit is set to be sold in LCBO outlets and will launch at a Toronto event on Thursday.
The government’s concern is not with the product itself, but with their advertising. Drink recipes featured on the company’s website includes one beverage dubbed the “Zesty Mordant”. It recommends rolling up: “a six paper joint,” grabbing a bag of chips, and pouring a straight glass of Liquormen’s.
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne believes the advertising can send a dangerous message: “[It is] dangerous in a lot of ways.”
Adding at a press conference on Monday that she: “Will look into it.”
