A homeless man has been arrested in connection to the death of George Stroumboulopoulos’ friend, Richard Hong, at the Canadian TV host’s rented Los Angeles home.
LAPD suspect the homeless man – reportedly in his early 20s – of bludgeoning Hong, 41, to death. The suspect is said to have a criminal history and was tracked down thanks to evidence found during the investigation.
“It is the result of evidence obtained that the suspect left at the scene,” LAPD Capt. Cory Palka tells reporters. “It is the result of cameras that the community had. They were able to track him down and make an arrest… he does have a criminal history. He has a couple of violent crimes that he’s been arrested for.”
Stroumboulopoulos said in a statement after news of the attack broke: “There’s so much to say but I’m at a loss for words so just love your people and I will have more to say when we know more about what happened.”
The victim was found dead on September 23, at Strombo’s rental home in the Whitley Heights neighbourhood, not too far from the Hollywood Bowl.
