Karl Lagerfeld is the latest celebrity to weigh in on Kim Kardashian after she was held at gunpoint inside of her luxury residence in Paris on Monday.
The 83-year-old fashion designer, who has photographed multiple members of the Kardashian family over the years, spoke with Reuters during Paris Fashion Week regarding the incident.
“I think it’s a very bad thing for Paris,” he said. “But I don’t understand why she was in a hotel with no security and things like this. If you are that famous and you put all your jewellery on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room.”
He went on to say that the reality television star is sometimes – if not always – too public with showing off her money. “You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it,” he said.
Lagerfeld added that this harrowing act may notably discourage future celebrities from visiting Paris. He said, “I think it’s a very bad thing. Image-wise, I think it’s very bad. We make all the efforts to make Paris appealing, then suddenly… “
