Toronto is about to have some very sad Drake fans.
Drizzy has been advised by doctor’s to cancel the remaining three shows of his Summer Sixteen tour, including a planned date in his hometown of Toronto. The Canadian city has had some bad luck recently, as Green Day also cancelled a scheduled performance.
A spokesperson from the rapper told People: “Drake suffered a severe ankle injury during the tour which he did his best to power through. By doing this, he made his injury worse. Under doctors’ orders and to ensure Drake only ever gives fans the performances they deserve, he will be postponing the remaining three dates of his Summer Sixteen tour to allow him time to recuperate his ankle injury.”
In a previous statement posted to his October’s Very Own blog, the “6ix God” revealed the ankle injury that his doctor has urged him to rest.
“We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night,” he wrote. “I hate to be told I can’t do something, but under doctor’s orders to allow me time to recuperate, I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support.”
He went on, “Toronto (my hometown) and Philadelphia (a city that was one of the loudest and showed so much love) are two of the intense three-in-a-row shows that will be postponed. I was asked to postpone both Newark shows, but I have yet to perform there and so we compromised at one.”
