Jacob Tremblay is celebrating his 10th birthday today, but the “Room” star is using the opportunity to honour another boy named Jacob, who tragically lost his life in a school shooting.
Jacob Hall, 6, was gunned down last week when a teenage shooter went on a rampage in a North Carolina elementary school, and the boy’s funeral was held today.
“Today is my 10th birthday & I am dressed as a superhero to honour another special Jacob,” writes Tremblay in a caption appearing alongside an Instagram photo of himself attired as Iron Man, a tribute to Hall’s love of superheroes. “I wish that Jacob Hall’s family & friends feel lots of love & peace today. #superheroesforjacob.”
The funeral was both emotional and unique, with mourners dressed as superheroes to honour Hall, who passed away from his injuries on Saturday.
“Jacob came into our lives six years and four months ago and changed it completely,” the boy’s parents said in a statement to People. “He showed us how to love, laugh and smile even on days we did not want to. God gave him to us and he was taken away from us by a senseless act.”
