As Shannen Doherty bravely continues her battle with breast cancer, her former “Beverly Hills, 90210” co-star Jason Priestley is firmly in her corner.
Speaking with ET Canada’s Rick Campanelli at the 2016 Canada’s Walk Of Fame Gala, where the “Private Eyes” actor received a star, Priestley had high praise for his on-screen sister. “I applaud her bravery in going through this on social media,” he said backstage. “There’s a certain amount of strength in that.”
Since her diagnosis in February 2015, Doherty has documented her treatment online in order to provide a glimpse inside the realities of the disease.
“I just think it’s tragic what she’s going through,” Priestley lamented. “It’s so sad, but Shannen’s a tough kid, man. And I’ve never known her to shy away from a fight, so I know she’s gonna fight hard.”
Doherty continues to do exactly that; on Thursday, just one day after her latest chemotherapy session, the actress took to Instagram to share that she was en route to a workout, despite the fatigue caused by her treatment.
After chemo day. I believe that just moving helps so much in the healing process. It's not always easy and sometimes I can't do it the next day but I try to make an effort to get the blood flowing and the toxins out of my body thru working out. Some days are easy workouts and other days I push it but the key is to MOVE!!! This is for any illness. Obviously check with your doctor. The road to recovery is paved with all sorts of different material. #beastmode #fightlikeagirl #warrior
“Yes I was tired, yes I wanted to be in bed but I went and moved and felt way better,” she wrote in a subsequent post from inside the session.
Last month, Doherty stepped out for the “Stand Up To Cancer” telecast in Los Angeles. Check out the video below to see what she had to say about her battle against the disease.
