Trump’s wife immediately condemned the Donald’s behaviour in his 2005 recording: “The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me,” she said in a statement to ET Canada.

She then went on to forgive Trump and praise him as a leader worthy of U.S. presidency: “This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world.”

Melania’s statements come shortly after the Republican presidential candidate posted a video apologizing for his language, saying: “Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it. I was wrong, and I apologize.”
