Last year, a Caitlyn Jenner-inspired Halloween costume sparked tons of controversy – and now one inspired by Kim Kardashian did the same.
Costume company Costumeish has removed what many considered to be a distasteful and inappropriate Halloween costume from their website.
The costume, described as a “Parisian Heist Robbery Victim” outfit comes shortly after Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint, tied up and robbed of millions of jewels at a Paris hotel.
The outfit comes with a short white robe, a long black wig, large sunglasses, a fake gag, two inches of rope and a fake “$4 million” ring. Costumeish Vice President Johnathon Weeks defended the costume in a statement to Buzzfeed: “I’m sad that people are offended by it, but it is Halloween: it’s one day out of the year. Halloween should be a light-hearted, spirited party and people should be able to laugh at it and think it’s funny. We haven’t sold any yet, if that matters.”
Adding: “If people find it tasteless or they are offended by it, it’s Halloween. Maybe you should just shut your life out and not go outside.”
People on Twitter were not satisfied with Weeks’ defense, voicing their disappointment with the costume.
