She’s a movie star, a lifestyle mogul and an ageless beauty, but Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t expect her daughter to follow in her famous footsteps.
The Oscar-winning actress – whose own mother is famous actress Blythe Danner – takes the cover of the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar where she gushes about her 12-year-old daughter Apple’s endless ambition. “My daughter is super ballsy. I always follow her lead,” says Paltrow, who sits down with “Full Frontal”‘s Samantha Bee for the candid interview. “I actually don’t need to encourage her to take risks. She likes to push herself; she wants to see how far she can get.”
She adds, “It’s really inspiring to see that in a young woman.”
The Goop founder, however, hints that her daughter’s confidence may have something to do with her children’s Hollywood upbringing and expressed fear over their wellbeing as they continue to attract increased attention. “In my case, I’ve borne these two kids into a particularly strange circumstance,” she continues. “They are going to have to fend off a lot and protect themselves from a lot of projections and prejudice about who they are, coming from the family that they come from.”
Still, it looks as though Apple will have a seasoned and unwavering supporter to help her navigate the perils of life in the spotlight. “If you haven’t taken all of life’s incredible knocks and disappointments and used them to become a fully integrated, self-expressing person by the time you’re 40, then what can I tell you?” the star adds.
