Actor Tommy Ford, who is best-known for playing Martin Lawrence’s best friend Tommy on the 1990s sitcom “Martin” has died.
A PR rep for the actor confirmed the news on Twitter on Wednesday evening.
TMZ writes that Ford passed away on Wednesday in an Atlanta hospital after previously being place on life support. He was reportedly surrounded by friends and family.
The actor was hospitalized on Sunday after an aneurysm ruptured his abdomen. On Wednesday, according to TMZ the decision was made to remove Ford from life support. He was 52.
While best-known for his “Martin” role, Ford also appeared on “New York Undercover,” “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “The Parkers”. He wrote children’s books that promoted a drug-free and violence-free lifestyle.

To all family and friends of Tommy Ford. We would like to inform everyone that our brother passed away today October 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Please keep his family in your prayers as they go through this challenging time. He was so dearly loved by so many and for that lets all be grateful for a life well served.
The actor underwent knee replacement surgery recently, and had been documenting the process and recovery on his Instagram, which also featured a photo of him receiving an award from the National Congress Of Black Women last month.
