Only days after being arrested for trespassing while protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline, Shailene Woodley is set to be honoured for her trailblazing commitment to the environment.
The Environmental Media Association will recognize the “Allegiant” star with the Female EMA Futures Award during the 26th annual EMAs, which praise prominent figures who remain strong advocates for the environment.
Debbie Levin, President of EMA, took to Facebook on Tuesday, highlighting Woodley’s unwavering support for the environment causes. “Shailene exemplifies who and what we honour at the Environmental Media Association,” Levin shared on Facebook. “We are proud of Shailene, and of each of our EMA Honorees this year, who lend their voices and harness their platforms to empower the public to preserve the environment and to bring awareness to crucial environmental issues.”
The EMAs will also honour Jaden Smith, who’ll receive the Male EMA Futures Awards, and Moby, who’ll accept the EMA Missions in Music Award.
Nicole Richie is slated to host the star-studded gala, which will also see Malin Akerman, Ian Somerhalder, Nikki Reed, Jamie Lynn Sigler, Lance Bass, Amber Valetta, Leona Lewis, and Peter Fonda take the stage as presenters.
The 26th annual EMAs take place on October 22, 2016.
