The creators of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” say they have read fan theories for season two and some of them are on the button.
Matt and Ross Duffer, the minds behind the show, tell The Hollywood Reporter fans have figured out season two’s plot based solely off chapter titles: “They’re ambiguous enough that no one is going to be able to figure it out. Some of the fan theories online are amazing. Most are wrong, but I’ve read a few that are right or very close. Is it Reddit? Some of those people have figured stuff out based off of the chapter titles,” Matt said.
Ross added that he loves this sort of audience involvement: “Some of these theories are elaborate and smart. They’re not crap. I love reading this stuff… We search Twitter, even though we’re not on it.”
Matt said it can be a challenge to not let outside influences affect the show’s writing: “We’re trying not let it change our process. The good thing is that we have most of the story broken out before anyone started tweeting or writing about the show. Of course, a lot of what people want is already in the second season.”
Netflix recently released a teaser for the highly anticipated next season. The Duffer brothers confirmed the show was commissioned for a second outing before season one ever aired.
