While performing his latest single “Take A Stand” on NBC’s “Today” on Thursday, Corey Feldman dropped an American flag and was quickly criticized for it across social media.
In a statement released to People, the “Goonies” actor apologized for his fumble of the flag, “We were excited and grateful to be asked to return to ‘Today’, but there wasn’t much time to prepare.” The actor-turned-singer claimed the performance was unfortunately rushed, “We scrambled to find an American flag to use as a patriotic symbol at the last minute and with no rehearsal.”
Although he has since deleted it, Feldman posted an emotional video on Facebook about the performance. Apologizing for the incident, the actor told his fans, “Because we love our fans and we just wanted to give them the best show that we could. But we don’t deserve… these things that are said about us are awful.”
This appearance follows Feldman’s most recent performance on “Today” in September, which went viral thanks to some odd choreography and a mid-performance outfit change.
