Robert Downey Jr. Wants To Voice The AI Assistant To Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg — Under One Condition

Mark Zuckerberg is pursuing his dream of creating a virtual assistant, imbued with artificial intelligence, modelled after Tony Stark’s Jarvis in the “Iron Man” movies.

In fact, the Facebook CEO put out a casting call on social media, announcing: “It’s time to give my AI Jarvis a voice. Who should I ask to do it?”

It didn’t take long for a volunteer to step forward: none other than “Iron Man” star Robert Downey Jr., who offered his services under one condition.

“I’ll do in a heartbeat if Bettany gets paid and donates it to a cause of Cumberbatch’s choosing…that’s the right kind of STRANGE!” wrote Downey in reply.

The “Bettany” he mentions is actor Paul Bettany (“A Beautiful Mind”), who’s provided the voice of Jarvis in all three “Iron Man” flicks and various other Marvel movies, while “Dr. Strange” star Benedict Cumberbatch will be the one selecting the charity.

No word yet on whether Zuckerberg plans to take Downey up on his offer, but it sure sounds like an offer (to paraphrase from “The Godfather”) he can’t refuse, but his reply hints that he’s taking it very seriously. “This just got real,” he writes. Stay tuned.
