With One Direction having gone in separate directions, band member Niall Horan is hinting that a reunion may be in the cards, revealing during an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” that he thinks the wildly popular British boy band will come back together “in the foreseeable future.”
However, he also cautions fans not to hold their collective breath, as he and the rest of the boys are all quite busy with their individual projects for the time being.
“For now, in the moment, we are kinda doing our own thing,” Horan told Norton. “I’m doing this [referring to his new single, “This Town”], Harry’s doing a movie [Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk”]. Harry did a movie. You know, we’re all doing our own bits and pieces. Can’t really put a date on it, but it’s not gonna be 50 years away. It’s in the foreseeable [future].”
Meanwhile, the singer admits that even though One Direction is on hiatus, the fan furor over the band is not. In fact, whenever he goes back home to Ireland, he’s so besieged by fans that he requires a police escort just to get to visit his parents.
“I’ll walk home, if it’s Christmas and there are no taxis, and I’ll start walking home, and then the police will drive past me and pick me up,” he explained with a laugh, “and they’ll bring me home.”
During the talk show appearance, Horan also performed his new single, “This Town”. Watch:
