Leonardo DiCaprio could be teaming up with “Scream Queens” star Glen Powell to remind everyone, when it comes to keeping the planet pollution-free “the power is yours.”
Paramount and the Oscar winner’s production company Appian Way are in talks to bring back the popular ’90s cartoon, taking over for Sony after the rights to the project lapsed.
Airing from 1990 to 1992, “Captain Planet and the Planeteers” was a TV series that followed five young people from around the world who were given magical rings that had the power to control the elements. Aiming to “take pollution down to zero” the group could unite to call upon Captain Planet, to help them fight against environmental evils.
With Powell and writing partner Jono Matt already penning the screenplay, sources say the remake would pick up years after the adventures of the show, with a washed up Captain who needs the kids more than they need him.
Due to the environmental themes, this projects seems like a natural fit for DiCaprio, who has spent the better part of this year promoting his new documentary “Before The Flood”.
