This Ontario mom just gave the ultimate Canadian tribute to The Tragically’s Hip’s frontman Gord Downie.
According to Buzzfeed, Shannon White, a resident of Trenton, Ontario, plans to dress her 2-year-old son Bentley Davidson in a Hip Halloween costume, as a pint-sized Downie.
Pulling inspiration from the musician’s metallic ensemble worn many times during The Hip’s Man Machine Poem Tour this summer, White has got her son’s look right on the mark.
White reportedly pulled the ensemble together from a combination of sources, including “Walmart, thrift shops, craft stores and a local fair,” Buzzfeed reports. The best part about the look is that she incorporated one of Downie’s real handkerchiefs obtained in 2008, when the singer threw it from his back pocket into the audience during a performance in Belleville, Ontario.
“We grew up on The Hip,” White tells Buzzfeed. “I was watching the final concert and I thought it would be an awesome tribute to a great Canadian icon. I discussed it with my hubby, and we asked Bentley if he wanted to be Gord Downie for Halloween, and he said yes.”
