The iconic hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest has announced the release of their “final” album, due out on November 11.
“To all the good people worldwide! We hope this letter finds you and yours safe and without a scratch!” member Q-Tip wrote in a handwritten message shared with his Instagram followers.
Q-Tip went on to note that the trio’s “The Tonight Show” performance on November 13, 2015 compelled them to venture back into the studio and “start the cook-up!”
“It was coming together nicely and as you may know we lost our brother and may God rest his soul on March 22,” he continued, paying tribute to the late Phife Dawg, who died of complications from diabetes. “But he left us with the blueprint of what we had to do.”
He added, “So we collected ourselves and along [with] tribesmen, Busta [Rhymes] and [Consequence]… we completed what will be, obviously the final A Tribe Called Quest album!”
“No this isn’t filled with old Phife bars… this is that Pure, unstepped on Pure!!” Q-Tip concluded.
ATCQ released their last album, “The Love Movement”, in 1998.
Q-Tip failed to reveal the name of their upcoming release.
