Katie Holmes steps behind the camera with the new drama “All We Had” and we have the first look at her feature film directorial debut.
The film also stars Holmes as Rita, a young mother of 15-year-old Ruthie, played by Stefania Owen. While fleeing Rita’s abusive boyfriend, the pair run out of money on the road after their car breaks down. Stranded in a small town, the mother-daughter duo are taken in by a kind-hearted diner owner, played by Richard Kind, and begin to develop ties to the community with newfound friends played by Judy Greer and Luke Wilson.
The 37-year-old Holmes previously directed the documentary short, “Eternal Princess” in 2015 which was nominated for the Tribeca Film Festival Jury Award for Best Documentary Short.
“All We Had” is scheduled to be released in December.
