Real-life couple Chris Evans and Jenny Slate are sharing some time together on-screen in the movie “Gifted”.
The couple met on the set of the sure-to-be tearjerker in which Evans plays a single man named Frank raising his niece Mary, when the child’s exceptional mathematical skills get the attention of his estranged and determined mother, played by Lindsay Duncan. While mom has plans on shipping her gifted grandchild off to a school to match her abilities, Frank’s plans for a normal life for Mary are thrown into jeopardy as the pair face separation. Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer co-stars as Frank’s landlady and best friend, while Slate stars as Mary’s teacher who develops a connection with the unconventional family.
They have but a few brief scenes together in the trailer, but Evans and Slate no doubt have chemistry as their on-screen relationship develops.
Slate confirmed her relationship to People back in May and recently gushed about her romance with the “Captain America” star on Anna Faris’ podcast, “Unqualified“, calling their attraction “instant.”
“The first night we hung out I was like ‘Oh, I could hang out with Chris for like 90 hours,'” she says on the podcast.
Directed by Marc Webb (“500 Days Of Summer”), the script for “Gifted” landed on the 2014 Black List of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood, as voted by industry insiders. Look for “Gifted” in theatres in April.
