Val Kilmer is speaking out after Michael Douglas claimed in an interview that the “Real Genius” star was suffering from oral cancer.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Kilmer says that he hasn’t seen Douglas in nearly two years, claiming Douglas was “misinformed” when he made the cancer claim.
Admitting that at the time he asked Douglas for a referral to see a specialist to diagnose a lump in his throat, Kilmer says: “I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever. I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily.”
In fact, Kilmer says if people don’t believe that he’s in fine health, they should come see him at upcoming screenings of his film “Cinema Twain”, in which he plays legendary humourist Mark Twain.
In the meantime, Kilmer says he bears no ill will to Douglas. “Whatever led Michael Douglas to speculate about my health, he’s a loving and devoted friend to a privileged group of talent[ed] people around the world, and I’m sure he meant no harm.” says Kilmer.
