Netflix’s anticipated series based on the wildly popular books by Lemony Snicket (a.k.a. Daniel Handler) debuts in January, but today brings a new trailer for Netflix’s “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” — and our first look at Neil Patrick Harris as nasty Count Olaf (played by Jim Carrey in the 2004 feature film).
The series recounts the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny — whose are forced to live with their new guardian, Count Olaf, who will stop at nothing to get his greedy paws on their inheritance. The siblings must continually outsmart Olaf, foil his devious plans and see through his clever disguises in order to discover clues about the mysterious deaths of their parents.
The eight-episode series — which was shot in Vancouver — is executive produced by Emmy-winner Barry Sonnenfeld and Daniel Handler. In addition to NPH, the series also stars Joan Cusack, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes and Patrick Warburton as author Lemony Snicket.
“Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” premieres Jan. 13, 2017 on Netflix.
