After secretly leaving books around London’s underground stations, Emma Watson is now bringing her feminist book club pick to the New York City subway.
The “Harry Potter” star and women’s equality advocate left copies of Maya Angelou’s “Mom & Me & Mom” around the London tube last week. It’s the latest pick in her online book club, Our Shared Shelf, which sees readers from around the world discuss a new feminist novel every two months.
The actress posted photos of herself hiding copies of Angelou’s book as part of the Books On The Underground project which sees “Book Fairies” leaving copies of books on the tube to be found by lucky travellers who read them, then return them to the tube for another reader to find. The project has been on-going since 2012.
Following Donald Trump’s election win, Watson is taking her Our Shared Shelf pick to New York City, leaving copies of “Mom & Me & Mom” on the subway.
In a tweet posted Wednesday, the actress writes that she’ll deliver copies of the Maya Angelou book to the subway and promises to “fight even harder” for the things she believes in.
Each copy of “Mom & Me & Mom” includes a handwritten note from Watson. In total, Watson left 100 copies of the book for lucky readers to discover in London. No word on how many copies she will be leaving on New York City’s transit system.
