The multi-talented Shay Mitchell has teamed up with homewares retailer Wayfair and design firm Consort for a complete makeover of her guest house and YouTube studio.
The actress let us in on the final reveal of her “bold yet feminine” new space that was inspired by Mitchell’s love of “Moroccan-meets-Mediterranean” design style.
“Mat and I worked together before, so I had absolute faith he would create a space I would love and be excited to show off! And, I so am!” Mitchell said in an interview with Wayfair.
Mitchell, who’s often seen galavanting around the globe on social media, opened up on how her love of travel has influenced her style. “Each place I travel I pick up something, physically and style-wise, to bring home with me,” she explained. “In Bali it was beautiful carved doors and gates, and in Morocco it was the stunning tile, rugs, and lighting. Each place I’ve travelled has a place in my home, because travelling is such a huge passion of mine. Each piece reminds me of all of the places I’ve been.”
The newly-designed space, which features white walls, graphic black-and-white tile, brass accents, abstract art pieces and natural textures and tones, is now an inviting place for Mitchell to call home after a busy day of filming on the “Pretty Little Liars” set. After touring us through her envy-inducing space, the Toronto native revealed how she loves to wind down after a hectic day.
“I thrive off a busy schedule, but it’s also exhausting! A comforting home base is crucial for me,” she said. “There’s nothing I love more after a 17-hour day on set or a long flight than walking through my front door, making a cup of tea, and snuggling up with some Netflix.”
She added, “my house keeps me grounded. Knowing what I have to look forward to at home allows me to be ‘go, go, go!’ the rest of the time.”
