Madonna had a big surprise for New Yorkers passing through Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village on Monday night, delivering a surprise concert in support of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
In advance of tomorrow’s election, the “Rebel Heart” singer took to social media earlier today to let fans know she had a special treat in store.
“Meet me in Washington Square Park at 7:30. Let’s go hard for Hillary Clinton,” she wrote in the Instagram caption accompanying a photo of her sporting a red-white-and blue cap, dotted with white stars.
According to the New York Daily News, Madonna was met with cheers from the crowd when she took to the stage in the park, accompanied by a few musicians.
“This is very exciting,” she said before running through five songs during her 20-minute set, including “Express Yourself,” “Rebel Heart,” “Like a Prayer” and even a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”
She closed out the set by urging fans to cast their votes for Hillary Clinton, declaring. “We must keep America the great country that it is.” Watch:
