The first trailer for Luc Besson’s stunning space opera “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets” has landed.
Based on the French graphic novel series, “Valerian And Laureline”, the sci-fi epic stars Dane DeHaan as the time-travelling Valerian and Cara Delevingne as his butt-kicking companion Laureline. Besson and the cast debuted footage from the film at Comic-Con in San Diego over the summer where it received a thunderous standing ovation from the Hall H crowd, and now, the first look at the film has finally arrived online.
Set in the 28th century, the dynamic space duo are government agents who are tasked with maintaining peace and order throughout the universe. The plot involves a visit to Alpha, an enormous metropolis which houses thousands of species from different galaxies who have all gathered to use their extraordinary talents, resources and technology to better society. The peaceful society is put in danger when Valerian and Laureline discover that not everyone on Alpha shares the same goals.
Directed by “The Fifth Element” director Besson, “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets” boasts a supporting cast that includes Ethan Hawke, Clive Owen, John Goodman, Rutger Hauer and Rihanna, who can be briefly glimpsed in the 90-second teaser.
“Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets” will be released in theatres on July 21, 2017.
