In an interview with the Associated Press on Thursday, Oprah admitted that she was in a state of disbelief after she learned that Donald Trump had won the 2016 United States presidential election.
Oprah, who had been a longtime and vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, said that, after watching President Barack Obama’s meeting with President-Elect Trump at the White House on Thursday, she found some comfort and that “hope is still alive.”
“I could sense, maybe I’m wrong, but I could sense from Donald Trump’s body language even when he came out for the acceptance speech, that brotha has been humbled by this whole thing. I think it’s a humbling process that now you literally have the weight of the world on your shoulders,” Oprah said.
Oprah added that she does not feel like Trump’s win was a refusal of Obama’s eight years in office and credits his victory to his millions of supporters who felt like their voices were finally being heard.
