The cast of “Beverly Hills, 90210” was together again, gathered for a reunion at RewindCon in Bloomington, Illinois, although one member of the group was conspicuous by her absence: Shannen Doherty, who sat the reunion out while she battles breast cancer.
She may not have been able to attend, but she certainly wasn’t forgotten, with her former co-star Luke Perry offering a touching tribute.
“None of us are up here today without Shannen,” Perry told the audience during the cast Q& A. “She’s been through a lot. She’s not doing well right now but sometimes her contributions are minimized. She’s been thrown under the bus. I’ve been accused of driving it. But she’s a very big part of the success of this show. She taught me a lot. I’m glad she was my scene partner. She was great at what she did in the character with me.”
Perry wasn’t the only “90210” star to pay tribute to Doherty, who was also honoured by Jennie Garth via Instagram with a photo of the words “Fight Like A Brenda” to praise the woman she calls “my soul sister” and “the strongest woman I know.”
“I used to be threatened by your spirit,” writes Garth. “Now I’m in awe of it.”
