America has remained divided in the aftermath of the U.S. presidential election and Emma Stone says it is time to show courage.
Stone told CNN that Donald Trump’s successful bid was like a splash of cold water: “I think it’s a real wake-up call and chance for us to all unite and do the very, very best we can to speak out and be brave.”
The “La La Land” made those comments while attending the 8th Annual Governors Awards last weekend. She doubled-down on her support for Hillary Clinton, describing the Democratic candidate’s loss as “incredibly painful.”
Her “La La Land” director Damien Chazelle also chimed in: “If us artists here keep making our art and making stuff and stay creative and stay productive, that’s my way of coping. And maybe that can actually help.”
The Los Angeles musical, also starring Ryan Gosling, opens on December 9.
