Wrestler-turned-actor (turned People’s Sexiest Man Alive) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may have his sights set on another career shift: running for office.
On the heels of “The Apprentice” star Donald Trump’s stunning upset in last week’s U.S. presidential election, Johnson reveals that he too might be drawn into the political arena. “I wouldn’t rule it out,” he tells Vanity Fair of staging a run for the White House in 2020. “It would be a great opportunity to help people, so it’s possible. This past election shows that anything can happen.”
It’s not the first time the idea of a President Johnson (or would it be President “The Rock” Johnson?) has been floated around, with the star mulling the idea on Instagram earlier this year. “The idea of one day becoming President to create real positive impact and global change is very alluring,” he mused before admitting that the nation’s top priority should be “strong honest leadership from our current and future leaders.”
Interesting piece from The Washington Post on if I ran for POTUS I could actually win. Writer Alyssa Rosenberg did some pretty good research into my background (slave descendants fighting for their freedom, Revolutionary War etc). Much more to uncover but well done. 👍🏾 More and more pieces like this are popping up due to the Presidential election and they're cool/fun to read… I care DEEPLY about our county… and the idea of one day becoming President to create real positive impact and global change is very alluring. Buuuuut until that possible day, the most important thing right now is strong honest leadership from our current and future leaders of this country. Thanks again Washington Post. 🇺🇸 💪🏾
Thankfully, fans of “The Rock” shouldn’t expect a shift from Hollywood to Washington anytime soon — his slate of projects in 2017 alone includes roles in “Fast 8”, a continuation of “Jumanji”, and the highly-anticipated “Baywatch” film adaptation.
