“Westworld” star James Marsden is Hollywood’s resident shapeshifter, with his perfect Matthew McConaughey impression and uncanny ability to be mistaken for Chris Pine.
Sitting down with Stephen Colbert on Global’s “The Late Show”, Marsden explains how he used to do impressions in high school. Starting with greats like Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor, the 43-year-old actor recently added some Texan twang to his arsenal in the form of Matthew McConaughey.
And boy is it impressive: “What you got to do is throw in a little Texas whistle in there, with those s’s,” Marsden says, copying McConaughey’s signature drawl. He also shares a funny story of the time he was mistaken by Chris Pine, but couldn’t bring himself to correct “his” thankful fan.
