‘Wizard Of Oz’ Turned On Its Head In New Trailer For Dark, Sexy ‘Emerald City’

After watching the new trailer for “Emerald City”, NBC’s upcoming reimagining of “The Wizard of Oz”, it’s clear that we are definitely not in Kansas anymore.

Accompanied by her dog Toto (a rough-and-tumble German Shepherd), a young woman named Dorothy (Adria Arjona) is caught up in a tornado that sends her into a strange, magical realm that resembles “Game of Thrones” more than it does the 1939 Judy Garland classic.

This Oz, in fact, is full of deep intrigue, dark magic and bloody battles as competing forces fight for control of the land of Oz, with Vincent D’Onofrio (“Daredevil”) as the Wizard, along with Joely Richardson as Glinda and Florence Kasumba the Wicked Witch of the East — who, in this version, looks like she could give Cersei Lannister a run for her money.
