Jessica Chastain is taking a positive outlook when it comes to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
While speaking with NET-A-PORTER’s The EDIT, the Hollywood starlet explains that despite advocating for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 U.S. presidential election campaign, the actress believes America’s next President may bring some good to the feminist movement.
“I think [Trump] being so popular is really an example of why feminism is so important,” the actress says. “Unbeknownst to him, he is bringing it all to the forefront, and I am very grateful for him in doing that. You have to look at the world in a positive way otherwise you just want to cry.”
Chastain, who stars as a political lobbyist fighting for stricter gun control in “Miss Sloane”, goes on to say that she feels a responsibility to portray characters that can empower young girls. She adds, “When I get a script that has the opportunity to create discussion and inspire young girls, I don’t want to say no to that.”
