A 90-day cell phone hiatus has left Selena Gomez feeling calm and refreshed.
“I recently took 90 days off,” the singer tells Thrive Global in a candid interview. “During that time I did not have my cell phone. It was the most refreshing, calming, rejuvenating feeling. Now I rarely pick up my phone, and only limited people have access to me.”
The 24-year-old “Kill ‘Em With Kindness” singer unplugged for three months to take care of herself. Back in August, she released a statement to US Weekly to announce she was taking time off to cope with “anxiety, panic attacks and depression” associated with lupus. “I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,” the statement read.
Now, Gomez is recovering with a new outlook on her health, saying “staying healthy (mentally, physically, emotionally) and learning new things” is what gives her energy now and she likes to spend her time with “self-affirmations in cooking or napping.”
The “Hands To Myself” singer shares a quote that she uses to help give her strength during tough times: “You are not what happened to you; you are what you chose to become after what happened.”
