As Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne count down the days until their first child arrives, fans of the stars are piecing together the couple’s earliest interactions.
Footage from their initial meeting, dating back to 2008 when Payne auditioned for “X Factor UK”, reveals sparks existed from the very beginning.
Cole gushed about the young singer nearly eight years before beginning a romantic relationship with the One Direction star. “I like you, I think you’re really cute,” she said after Payne delivered his rendition of “Fly Me To The Moon” and threw in a cheeky wink for Cole. “I think you’ve got charisma.”
Two years after being booted from the reality competition right before live tapings began, Payne returned to show for another chance at stardom. “You’ve definitely got it, whatever ‘it’ is, you’ve got it. I thought your voice was really, really powerful,” the then 26-year-old said after his performance of Julie London’s “Cry Me A River” in 2010.
The couple went public with their relationship in February and Monday saw the stars announce their pregnancy at a charity concert, where Cole proudly put her baby bump on display in a body-hugging, ribbed dress.
