Everyone’s favourite “Friends” may have waved goodbye only 12 years ago, but Jennifer Aniston says she believes the world has changed too much since then for a show reunion.
The Remembrandts’ hit “I’ll Be There For You” was the famous theme song of the iconic ’90s sitcom “Friends”, but Aniston sadly won’t “be there for” a show reboot. It became one of television’s most iconic shows during its 10 season run, with the actress explaining her reasoning to ITV‘s “Lorraine”: “Honestly, I don’t know what we would do. I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic.”
“I think why people have such an affection for it is because even though it was only 12 years ago it ended, or 13—God, it’s getting farther and farther away—there was something about a time where our faces weren’t stuffed into cell phones,” Aniston adds about the changing times. “We weren’t checking Facebook and Instagram. We were in a room together, in a coffee shop together. We were talking, having conversations. We have lost that.”
But that doesn’t mean she can’t look back on her stint with “Friends” fondly, saying “Not only was it a gift for us, but it’s something that people have been able to carry with them. It’s comfort food and it makes them feel better when they’re feeling down when they want to distract themselves, because it is always on! You can pretty much find it anywhere!”
Aniston, 47, next stars in “Office Christmas Party” – dashing to theatres on Dec. 9. And hey, there’s always the sit-down “Friends” reunion to help wet your appetite.
