When you’re a celebrity couple, make-believe tabloid rumours of relationship strife come with the territory. And while it’s easy to assume stars have thickened their skins enough to be able to laugh off such reports, Anna Faris admits this is easier said than done.
In the latest edition of her podcast “Anna Faris is Unqualified”, the “Mom” actress — and wife of “Jurassic World” star Chris Pratt — sits down with “Nocturnal Animals” star Isla Fisher, who, like Faris, has a famous spouse (“Borat”/”Bruno” funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen).
As part of a celebrity power couple, Faris can relate to Fisher’s stance of refusing to talk about her marriage and children in interviews.
“Chris and I, we talk about this a lot,” Faris said. “We grapple with a lot of the ideas of being a public couple.”
This really hit home, she explained, about a year ago when their relationship suddenly came under the tabloid microscope.
“We were in the public a little bit, there were some tabloid rumours about strain in our relationship,” she said. “I just remember feeling so hurt in a way that bothered me, because I didn’t want to think of myself as somebody who could be bothered by … tabloid s***.”
Even though the rumours were completely bogus, Faris admits they “made me feel incredibly very insecure.”
“It’s much more interesting to see a story about a tumultuous relationship than a happy one,” added Fisher, who suggested that the next time Faris and Pratt wind up in the tabloids they should “release a sex tape.”
