Drew Barrymore’s two little girls, Frankie, 2, and Olive, 4, are just as starstruck as any other toddlers who visit Disneyland.
But the scale of the magic took its toll on the youngsters recently, and Barrymore was clever enough to the capture the “mayhem” after a full day of taking in the sights and sounds. “I just had tears of joy seeing their joy,” the “Santa Clarita Diet” star said while appearing on “Late Night With Seth Meyers”. “But if you’ve ever taken your kids to Disneyland or Disney World, it all ends at some point in, like… mayhem.”
In a moment that is sure to embarrass Olive many years from now, Meyers held up a photo of her lying on the ground in Tomorrowland. “This seems to be a moment where you caught the mayhem because she’s just dying,” Meyers pointed out.
“That is a legitimate picture of my daughter just losing it on the floor,” Barrymore explained. “In this case, she wanted to chase a duck or an egret.”
“And in hindsight, as a parent, you have these revelations like, ‘I should have let her catch it.’ ‘Cause she either would have and been satisfied, or she wouldn’t have been and been mad at the duck and not her mom who tried to stop her from chasing the bird,” she continued. “I say just let ’em chase it… and see what happens.”
And when Olive mimicked her initial meltdown on a different coast, Barrymore was right there to capture the moment yet again. “You push it hard enough because you’re like, ‘I’m here, let’s skip the nap and let’s go go go.’ You wanna maximize it. This is how it always ends for me,” the actress added.
