“The Bachelor” star Nick Viall makes his first appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday for a very romantic Valentine’s Day episode.
Nick, the current Bachelor, sits down with DeGeneres to talk about the recent announcement that Rachel Lindsay, who is currently a contestant on the show, will be the next Bachelorette — the first black Bachelorette in the show’s history. Nick took to Twitter on Tuesday to share how he excited he was about the announcement:
DeGeneres admits she was surprised at the announcement, as Nick and Rachel have great chemistry. Viall agrees but doesn’t spill any other details.
“Rachel and I had an amazing amount of chemistry from the very first night,” he agrees. “She got the first impression rose. I’m very excited for her. I think she’s going to be an amazing Bachelorette.”
Most were surprised by the announcement as Rachel is still competing on the show, which has led many to believe she doesn’t get the final rose. “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison issued an apology on Instagram to Bachelor fans for spoiling the finale with the announcement of Rachel.
DeGeneres also predicts that everyone’s favorite Bachelor contestant on the current season, Corinne Olympios, is going to win the final rose from him and Nick is also tight-lipped on that.
Without giving too much away, he says he’s had some great conversations with Corinne and that he liked how focused she was on moving their relationship forward. This comes after a controversial episode on Monday where Corinne attempted to sleep with Nick after one of the women was sent home.
What Nick does reveal to DeGeneres is that he may or may not be in love, but not much else. Just in case it doesn’t work out for him, Ellen gives him a three-year subscription to Match.com.
Meanwhile, another former star from “The Bachelor” franchise is weighing in on Lindsay’s selection as the next Bachelorette: Canadian “Bachelorette” star Jillian Harris, who starred in the fifth season, and can currently seen on HGTV’s “Love It Or List It Vancouver”.
“Although I am confused as to why they announced her so early… I am thrilled about this announcement,” Harris tells ET Canada in a statement. “I think Rachel will make an incredible Bachelorette! She’s beautiful, articulate, funny and has great style! Looking forward to following her ‘journey’ and supporting her along the way.”
